<I’m still fucking Deaf> is a sign language–based performance music video project reinterpretating “Christian” by Zior Park.

Rather than speaking only about “Deaf pride,” this work explores the complex emotions experienced by Deaf and oral deaf individuals living in a hearing-centered society, including admiration and distance, pride and inferiority, and ultimately the journey of returning to one’s own identity through dark comedy.

The narrator within the work admires hearing society, rejects Deaf culture, and reveals a desire to “live like a hearing person” within oralism and audism.

However, the work ultimately reveals the reality of never being able to fully belong to hearing society no matter how hard one tries, and the irony of eventually confronting one’s own Deafness once again.

At the same time, the project satirically explores internal conflicts within the Deaf community, hearing-centered social structures, and issues surrounding language and identity through a dark comedy approach, honestly expressing emotions that are rarely spoken about openly.

In particular, unlike the common process of translating written lyrics into sign language, this project was created by first developing the sign language performance itself and later reconstructing its meaning into text.

<I’m still fucking Deaf>는
지올팍(Zior Park)의 ‘Christian’을 바탕으로 재해석한
수어 기반 퍼포먼스 뮤직비디오 프로젝트이다.

이 작품은 단순히 “농인으로서의 자부심”만을 이야기하지 않는다.
청인 중심 사회 속에서 살아가는 농인과 구화인의 복합적인 감정,
동경과 거리감, 자부심과 열등감,
그리고 결국 다시 자신의 정체성으로 되돌아오는 과정을
블랙코미디 형식으로 표현하였다.

작품 속 화자는
청인 사회를 동경하고,
농사회를 부정하며,
구화와 청능주의(Audism) 속에서
“청인처럼 살아가고 싶다”는 욕망을 드러낸다.

하지만 작품은 결국,
아무리 노력해도 완전히 청인 사회에 속할 수 없는 현실,
그리고 결국 다시 자신이 농인임을 마주하게 되는 아이러니를 보여준다.

또한 이 작품은
농사회 내부의 갈등,
청인 중심 사회 구조,
언어와 정체성 문제를
풍자와 블랙코미디 방식으로 풀어내며,
평소 쉽게 이야기되지 않는 감정들을 솔직하게 드러낸다.

특히 본 프로젝트는
일반적인 “한국어 가사 → 수어 번역” 방식이 아닌,
수어 퍼포먼스를 먼저 창작한 뒤
그 내용을 텍스트로 재구성한 독특한 형태로 제작되었다.
